You owe it to yourself to spend 3 and a half minutes watching this. No words, just simple animation and a deep message. Yeah, it’s a little simplistic. But this is actually a pretty simple issue. There’s a plant that grows wild in nature. It does a world of good, safely, and it’s illegal. Who benefits, I ask you? Think about it while you’re watching this video, and please spread this video as widely as you can. Mr. Obama, let’s end this cruel prohibition now. (yeah, like he’s reading MY blog; but it COULD happen!)
A grow that had literally been inspected and approved by a local sherrif, which was legally licensed for fees of more than $1000 to the local government, was raided in a most unprofessional fashion by the DEA. And the Obama administration seems to be ok with this. Don’t make me agree with Palin, Mr. President. I’m needing some of that hopey changey stuff about now.
Thanks to J for the great article find.

Did you know that a 2004 study published in the highly-esteemed Journal of the American Medical Association showed that in the year 2000, 365,000 people in the U.S. died from “poor diet and physical inactivity”. In the same year, ZERO people died from marijuana**.
If you are REALLY interested in facing the facts about marijuana, here’s a good place to start. No opinions, no bias, just the science. I must admit I haven’t made it all the way through this LONG text, but it’s available for purchase or for a free PDF download OR you can just click directly to the section you want on the site itself, so there’s no excuse for us not knowing the facts now.
Amazing work here. I’ll be adding this site to my small list of recommended sites. Don’t be surprised if the next time someone says, “Pot leads to heroin use,” or something equally absurd, you start quoting chapter and verse from a 2001 study that proves otherwise. Not as fun as taking someone to Holland to SHOW that this belief is absurd (hard drug use DROPPED hugely after pot legalization), but it’ll do in a pinch. I wish we could get President Obama to read this stuff…but then again, he’s probably realized that $2B+ of U.S. spending is justified by the ridiculous “war” on pot. It’s political suicide to change this and put cops out of work. And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is why the U.S. imprisons more of its citizens than any other country on earth. More than ANY OTHER COUNTRY. Because it’s politically difficult to change. Shame on you, Mr. Obama. Shame on you, Congress. Shame on you, Supreme Court. People are suffering, my FRIENDS are suffering because you lack the political will to make a positive change.
“In America since 1965, there have been 21 million arrests for marijuana, 9 out of 10 for quantities of an ounce or less. Over 800,000 were arrested for pot last year, with people of color and the young being arrested and incarcerated in hugely disproportionate numbers.”
Good article explaining the ridiculous position the Obama White House has taken on marijuana legalization. This article points out that the ‘drug czar’ has publicly stated that marijuana has no medical benefit. I’d like to invite him to join me after a chemo session — anytime. It also points out that studies show half of Americans are ready for legalization and the vast majority of Californians are ready for the plant to at least be handled legally like alcohol. There’s a referendum on the ballot for us this year, Californians. More to come on that, you may be sure! Enjoy the article!
